My mum was given 3 months to live 7 months ago. Now she needs your help to potentially add years to her life expectancy💖
Auckland
As some of you may or may not already know, my mum (Catherine) was diagnosed with stage 4 Cancer shortly before Christmas 2019. Initially we were told she may only have 3 months to live which came as a huge shock as we had never suspected a thing, all existing symptoms had been assumed to be menopause which wasn’t the case.. Fortunately she’s so strong and through the Grace of God is still here fighting almost 7 months down the track! My mum has been the most calm, kind and peaceful patient at all times and regardless of all the needles, procedures and hospital trips she’s had to endure has refused to let the big C get the best of her or be the ruler of her life! However the time has come where we need your help.. Mum has been having Folfox Chemotherapy since February this year and unfortunately the cancer has still managed to spread. She started a new Chemotherapy treatment called Cetuximab which is a more targeted treatment aimed at preventing the further spread of her Cancer cells and most importantly is expected to add years to her life expectancy. This treatment has only just started as of today but because it is a non-funded medication through the private system, it has come with a huge price tag. Insurance has agreed to cover part of the costs but due to our situation and me being Mums sole carer, we’ve hit a bit of a brick wall.. I’m really hoping that we’ll be able to get together $15,000 that will be needed to continue her current cycle of Cetuximab Chemotherapy. Every bit counts and I know that there are some that are willing to help but not aware of how so I’m hoping this does the trick.
I’m Catherine’s daughter. (Only child).
Any funds raised will go towards funding the rest of mums current cycle of Cetuximab Chemotherapy through the private sector and any further cycles to come as this treatment is indefinite and will be continued as long as she is tolerating it.
