Please help us finish our bus and provide a safe home for our family.
Canterbury
Hi everyone... A bit of a call for help.
*Christchurch
6 months ago whilst living and working overseas we decided to purchase a bus in NZ with the mind to convert it into a full time home.
At the start of October our little girl Keiva (13 months) became sick. We spent a small fortune at private hospitals and finally ended up having her flown via medivac to Townsville. The prognosis was not good, somehow she had picked up an aggressive form of menengial tuberculosis, a TB infection of the brain.
In the days after she arrived at the hospital we were advised that there was no brain activity and no chance of recovery. We made the difficult decision to remove her from life support at sunrise on the first of November.
Deciding to resign from my position to spend time with my family I gave the 3 months notice as per my contractual obligation. Unfortunately, I was given 2 weeks notice by my employer.
This has meant that we have arrived in NZ with no job, no accommodation, an unfinished bus and no savings. We managed to raise over $6000 through a givealittle page to go towards covering done of the outstanding bills from Keiva's treatment and funeral.
I applied for another role in PNG, after looking here in NZ, I got the position and was due to fly out this morning.. I checked in and made my way to the gate but could not get on the plane, I ended up back at home. I realised I have not dealt with losing her and we need to be together through this period. Thanks
Now you have some back story I'll come to the point of my post, I am trying to finish our bus (currently stored at Weedons NZMCA) so we have a home for our 2 girls. We are currently living in the spare room of a distant relative and need to be out before Christmas.
If anyone either private or business have any left over materials, bits and pieces that we may be able to use that they would feel comfortable donating it would be greatly appreciated. We need to get a self containment sticker and my main concern is keeping the girls warm / dry and safe.
I am normally a very private person but know that to help my family I need to ask for help.
We have always been the ones to help, I'm hoping now that Karma will look after us...
Thank you for taking the time to read the post.
Jamie
