Help Nikita vie for a medal in the Graphic Design category at the WorldSkills International Competition in Kazan, Russia in 2019
Wellington
From a young age those around me identified I was a logical thinker. Very practical, and in a worldly sense everything was either 'black or white'. My 'arty' side began developing also. Colour and shape became part of my psyche and I excelled in drawing and later in art lessons. A practical thinking art student - wow! Now as a graphic designer I can use my rare combination of talents for a purpose - Art that works.
I enjoy breaking out of my comfort zone and challenging myself in any project. I like to fully immerse myself in the 'corporate puzzle' that design is and eventually I feel relaxed in the stress of it all and the visions that flow out just feel natural. I also like to get as hands-on as possible and step away from the screen as much as I can. Sometimes getting your hands dirty is the best part.
I have worked with a few clients over the last couple of years and have learned that I really enjoy not only creating a visual identity for a brand but also the process to get there as well. Good interaction and communication is key. Who would have thought that work could be fun!
Please help me on my journey to get to Russia in August to represent New Zealand. I am excited to see what the future brings and where my design skills take me.
I think that representing New Zealand will show the ambitious young New Zealanders that they too can excel in their skill.
Please help me get to Kazan, Russia and show the world that New Zealand has what it takes!
WorldSkills New Zealand is an independent, non-profit Charitable Trust founded in 1986, dedicated to encouraging young people to excel in vocational skills. This is achieved through exposure to competitions at a Regional, National and International level. The purpose of the organisation is to:
• Encourage, recognise and reward skill excellence.
• Raise the standards of skills training in New Zealand.
• Raise the self-confidence and self-esteem of the young participants.
• Have New Zealand recognised as one of the highest skilled nations in the world.
• Promote Skills Training as a first choice career to school leavers.
Funds will be used to support Nikita to cover training costs, attend training camps, and represent New Zealand in international events including the world's largest skill competition.
