Kai needs your help! We are seeking donations for Kai's escalating vet bills and on-going treatment for his broken neck!
Otago
As many of you will know, the past 5 weeks have been a real rollercoaster for the “My Pet Kai” family. For those who don't know, our wild spirited Kai got hit by a car on Boxing day.
After a seemingly minor hit, his condition deteriorated and he was in significant pain. His X-rays confirmed our worst nightmare, he had unstable C1 & C2 fractures (broken neck)- a phenomenon that few vets have seen as it is most often fatal. At only two years young and being the light of our lives, there was no other option but to go ahead with treatment in order to give him the best shot at life!
After sending his X-rays off to the best specialist vets in the country, he is now rocking a custom fibreglass cast to support his neck and to help avoid any further damage - all going well this will prevent the need for an extremely risky spinal surgery; only time will tell.
The future for Kai is going to be challenging, but we are hopeful that his tenacious and mischievous spirit will prevail.
We are kindly asking Kai’s amazing community to help in any which way they can to help cover the costs for Kai’s escalating vets bills. We are needing numerous visits to the vets for check-ups and 1-2 weekly cast changes, X-rays and a CT scan to track progress and eventual rehabilitation.
We would be eternally grateful for even the smallest of donations.
Thank you so much for reading through this and thank you in advance for your generosity.
From Kai, Ned, Luth, Kayleigh and Mon.
Donations will be used to help with the costs associated with Kai’s treatment and rehabilitation. Should there be any surplus funds, we will donate these to Southland based not-for-profit organisation Furever homes.
