Raising money for Sam to work through his bucket list while he is still well enough after stopping treatment for leukaemia.
Waikato
Many of you will know Sam – super nice guy, always cheerful and hard working.
Since 2019 Sam has battled a rare Osteosarcoma (bone cancer) which spread to his lungs. He had some ribs and part of his lungs removed & a year of intensive chemo and radiotherapy. Despite this Sam made great progress, working part time and starting his own business.
In December 2021 Sam got very sick and was diagnosed with a second cancer, AML (Leukaemia). It is exceptionally rare to get both cancers and very difficult to treat.
It’s been a rough few months for Sam. He developed pneumonia and septic shock, spent Christmas ventilated in a coma in ICU then a week in HDU learning to breathe again along with countless transfusions, painful biopsies and ongoing chemo.
Sam’s Haematology team have told him his survival rate for a bone marrow transplant is 5% so he has made the decision to stop any further treatment.
They estimate he has anywhere from 3 to 12 months left.
Sam has a bucket list of adventures and experiences and he’d like to tick off as many as possible but time is running out to do it while he is still well enough.
Many people have asked how they can help so we would like to suggest they can contribute here for Sam to create some amazing memories.
Any contribution is appreciated - even if it's a couple of dollars.
It's not easy to ask but we want to help Sam enjoy as much time left as possible.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this along with all your contributions and wishes.
Sam's uncle - on behalf of the family
Travel and adventures for Sam to have some incredible experiences and make amazing memories in the short time he has left.
Any leftover funds will be donated to Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand.
