Steve’s last hope is $95k immunotherapy not publicly funded. Help our much-loved dad, partner & mate keep fighting.
Hamilton, Waikato
We’re reaching out for help to give our much-loved father, partner, and mate Steve (aka Trackman, Rutzy) a fighting chance.
Since 2020, Steve has been battling an aggressive and relentless cancer of the neck, face, and head, advanced squamous cell carcinoma. He’s endured multiple surgeries and extensive rounds of radiotherapy, facing each challenge with courage, humour, and determination.
This week brought devastating news. Without further treatment, Steve’s cancer is expected to spread to his brain within months — doctors estimate he may have just 3–6 months left. But there is hope. His medical team believes immunotherapy offers a strong chance of controlling — and potentially reversing — the cancer’s progression. It’s a treatment that has achieved remarkable results for patients with similar conditions, giving them precious years they might not otherwise have had.
Sadly, this treatment isn’t funded through the public health system and comes with a $95,000 cost.
Steve means the world to so many — a devoted dad, loving partner, and loyal friend. We’re determined to do everything we can to help him access this treatment and keep him with us for as long as possible.
Every donation, big or small, brings us one step closer to giving Steve the chance he deserves.
He's been my friend since I was 17 - 45 years.
