Help Summer smile

This is Summer, Summer is the most kind and caring 8 year old girl who always loves to see people smile, she says that when she sees people smile it makes her heart sing.

2 months ago Summer's parents Ray and Vanessa noticed there was something not right with Summer's eye as it would move outward for no apparent reason, Summer was taken to the optometrist who prescribed her glasses but on further investigation it was discovered there was something a lot worse going on.

Ray and Vanessa were told there was a 97% chance it was a brain tumor but further specialist's discovered it wasn't a brain tumor but a fatal and untreatable disease called Batten Disease.

Batten disease is a rare and fatal disease of the nervous system, among its symptoms are vision loss, seizures, cognitive problems, learning impediments, poor coordination and balance, Eventually Summer will be blind, bedridden and unable to communicate.

As any parent can imagine this diagnosis is absolutely devastating and heartbreaking on a level noone should experience, Summer's diagnosis has shaken her family to the core and they are all still in a state of utter disbelief.

I met Summer and her family 4 years ago when they joined the Cambridge Fitness Centre where I look after Summer in the babysitting area, Summer and her family have become part of the Cambridge Fitness family, Summer knows every person in the gym adult or child and always greets them with a big smile and hello. All of our hearts are breaking for Summer, Ray and Vanessa and we are wanting to raise money to take the financial strain from them so they can spend as much time with Summer and experience all that life has to offer her before Summer loses her sight completely and the other syptoms of this disease start to take hold
