Help mum create lasting memories, see her grandchildren take their first step and maybe just maybe their 1st day of school and beyond.

On the 20th of October 2017 I received the phone call that no daughter wants to receive EVER... Mum had small cell lung cancer and it had progressed too far to operate, our only option was an intense round of chemo that would buy us some precious time with her.
Mum has been a pillar of hope, strength and positivity since that day, more concerned about how we are all coping than for herself and what her body is going through every day!
Small cell lung cancer is a very aggressive rare tumour that can grow in a matter of weeks, Her scan before Christmas showed that the chemo was working and in fact there had been some shrinkage in the tumours - great, a christmas wish come true to all of us and she was able to travel to Auckland to visit her latest grandchild who was 3 days old at the time.
Her next scan only 6 weeks later was another story... the chemo had stopped working and the smaller tumors had almost doubled in size! She was told that there would be no more chemo and her time was now limited.
But there was a drug that was currently in trial for small cell lung cancer called 'keytruda' the drug that is getting a lot of press currently as it is funded for Melanoma but not lung cancer. "WHY?"
A full round of this treatment is going to cost a whopping $120,000!!!
Money should never come in the way of life but too often is does, every cent you can spare will help buy us the hope of time.
Mum is the first to do anything to help others so now i'm appealing to you to please consider a donation to assist in funding this treatment to buy her the time to create precious memories, see her 4 young grandchildren say their first word, take their first step, maybe just maybe see them off to their first day of school and beyond.

I am putting this page together to try and help mum with the ability to receive the expensive medical treatment that will give her precious time with her family and young grandchildren.

The funds raised toward our $120,000 goal will be used for the Keytruda treatment and any other non funded medical related expenses that arise
Natural alternatives 3 November 2018
On Friday the 19th October we got the news we knew one day would come but secretly hoped never would!
Mums cancer was spreading through her lungs and quickly...Radiation had worked on the larger tumours but because of the type of cancer mum has (small cell) the tumours are now all through her lungs and are too small to individually target with radiation.
The oncologist has said at this stage there is not much more they could do!
They did suggest one last long shot - sending some of mums biopsy to America for testing to see if they had any drugs we could consider - an expensive exercise but one we of course did not think twice about.
We hope to have results for this in the next few weeks with some options to consider.
We are not willing to give up or put all of mums eggs in one basket so have been spending a lot of time researching leads of different private treatment clinics here in NZ and investigating natural alternatives.
Mum has just started TBL12 sea cucumber - yes you read that right… A mixture of sea cucumber, sea sponge and shark fin... this concoction has actually been approved by the FDA in America and has been proven to do some amazing things to help build immunity and fight cancers!
Some of you may not know that mum also has another grand baby on the way - Due April 2019 and we desperately want them to meet so we have everything crossed for positive news from the tests in America and that those little cucumbers can work us some magic!
All we hope and pray for everyday is more time
Keep mum in your thoughts as I truly believe in the power of positivity and people
