Help to secure freedom for our special Grandpa

I’m starting this page to help to support my Dad’s legal costs in South Africa. My Dad lives in a farming village in South Africa. Recently, two armed men broke into his home while he was sleeping. He woke up during the home invasion. His self defence action has now left him with a manslaughter charge. Due to the upcoming trial, we cannot share details or specifics of the case.

My Dad is a very gentle and loving man. He is well loved in his community. The event has been incredibly hard on him, and it is not something you ever expect to have to go through. It is devastating that we cannot get over there to support him at the moment, due to the current covid situation, and ongoing political unrest in South Africa. We feel helpless.

His legal journey will be long and expensive.

We will be supporting him with what we have, but it will not be enough to see him through the whole trial. New Zealand dollars have a lot more value in South Africa, and so every little bit raised here will help him.

We want nothing more than the rest of his days to be lived out safely and freely, and not from a prison cell. And, our kiwi kids just want to see their Oupa Kriek (Grandpa) again.
