Empower. Engage. Connect. Upskill. Grow.

A bit about us...

Manu Collective is a Pasifika project based collective directed by Xavier Breed, alongside co-directors and fellow young Pasifika/Māori artists Connor Masseurs, Jas Ofamo’oni, Tia Sagapolutele and Toa Paranihi. All of these artists are the creative, organisational and logistical minds behind the collective. As well as being a part of Manu Collective, these artists hold impressive portfolios within dance performance, choreography, education and youth work and are practicing dance in all forms currently in their own lives.

Manu collective’s performers consist of current Pasifika and Māori dance students (majority in their final year of training) from various tertiary dance institutions in New Zealand - NZ School of Dance, UNITEC Dance and the University of Auckland Dance Studies Department. This makes Manu the only collective of its kind in the country and potentially, the world, a collective solely aimed towards Pacific Island and Māori dancers in tertiary dance training and education to undertake performance opportunities overseas.

Follow us on our journey to share our Pacific-Māori culture through contemporary choreography for audiences in NZ and abroad.
