The Maungaturoto Community Charitable Trust is a charitable organisation that supports its community with aged care.

We are now expanding our facilities to deliver increased services to the community by adding a fourteen bed secure dementia unit.

The Maungaturoto Community Charitable Trust is administered by a trust of 9 volunteers.

With community assistance over the past 20 years a 16 bed Rest Home, 11 retirement rentals, 14 Own your Own units and a medical centre, leased out to medical practitioners has been established.

As the need for dementia care increases, it is essential to the wellbeing of our people and families that they can be looked after within their own community/district. The number of people needing residential dementia care now outstrips proportional population growth and is expected to grow by 7 per cent a year.

At present the nearest dementia units are at Waipu, Whangarei or Dargaville, so the development of a secure and stable dementia unit in Maungaturoto will allow local families to stay together for longer.
