Help Walt Kim for 16th World Kendo Championship!

Auckland

Hi My name is Walt Kim!

I've been recently selected as theone of the NZ Team member for the 17th World Kendo Championship. I will be visiting Japan and Korea this August/ September for 2~3 weeks to participate in 17th World Kendo Championship.

All the NZ Team is trying to improve on our previous performance in the 2012 World Championships when we finished as one of the TOP 8 teams in the world and also top 16 teams in the world at the 16th World Championship in 2015.

To be selected as a representative of New Zealand kendo requires a high level of skill, determination, fortitude, and integrity. The stringent criteria for selection is as much a matter of good character as it is athletic ability. All of the national team members understand fully the responsibilities of national representation, and take great pride in punching well above our weight in the international arena.

Kendo in New Zealand is an amateur sport, and all representatives are required to fund their own way to domestic and international competitions leading up to the World

Championships. Any support that you can provide NZ Kendo team will be a vital contribution to his/her participation, and thus the team’s overall performance.

Representing New Zealand at a world championship is a pivotal point in any athlete’s career.

Your help will contribute to the development of kendo in New Zealand.

Hi All,

Team New Zealand participated in 2018 Trans Tasman Taikai (10th~11th February 2018)

History was made with the NZ men winning the Trans Tasman trophy for the first time and although the women were defeated, our aim of gaining high level Kendo challenge experience was successful.
