Help West Coast RDA buy a new horse called "Squid"

$755 of $7,000 goal
Given by 11 generous donors in one year

We need to buy a new horse to help us provide therapy to local riders. We have found a wonderful pony called "Squid" who will be much loved.

West Coast

The West Coast RDA provides horse riding as therapy for children and adults with a disability, people experiencing mental illness and youth at risk.

Our horse riding therapy helps riders with a wide range of physical, emotional, cognitive and social special needs. RDA provides therapy that is fun, exhilarating and sometimes has the power to change a persons perspective on life. Besides physical benefits, contact with horses is an uplifting experience and can really help people who are troubled or suffering.

Our core purpose is to provide interaction with horses to develop increased ability, independence, and self-esteem for children and adults with physical, intellectual, emotional and social challenges.

We are an affiliated group of the New Zealand Rising for the Disabled Association. We offer RDA sessions 4 days a week during school term time and currently about 60 riders are benefiting from our services.

We have an amazing network of volunteers who work alongside trained Coaches to help with the therapy sessions.

We rely on volunteers, fundraising, grants and donations to heavily subsidise our service.

We appreciate your support.

Awesome experiences for riders  6 March 2019

Kia ora everyone

The riders at West Coast RDA have a range of experiences when they attend sessions. Nearby Prosser's Bush allows mini-treks into peaceful native bushland where birdsong and the wind in the trees create a soothing environment. The perspective from the horses back allows a new interaction with the bush and there are all sorts of things to discover on the way.

Thanks for all your support so far.
