I am setting up this page to help generous Aviva with the financial burden of her precious dog Kiya's unexpected life saving surgery.
Otago
Today I had a call from a long term friend Aviva whom I know through our charitable group Baskets of Blessing. She was her typical happy self, making small talk, but I could tell there was something she wanted to ask me. Still I couldn't get it out of her.
Eventually she told me about her beautiful dog Kiya - a family member as all pets are - and the unexpected surgery she had to have a few days ago. She struggled not to get upset as she told me. They'd noticed she was off colour and a trip to the vet confirmed it. The next day she was booked for an emergency operation.
The kids and her were devastated and had an agonising wait. Four and a half hours later a tumour and part of her intestines were removed, but everything was a success!! Aviva told me "The care she received was amazing, and we are incredibly grateful. Our first post op visit on Sunday morning she wore a bandage and cheeky her was pretending she couldn't walk. Kiya didn't want to sleep in the cage so very kindly she was given her own room and a special bed made just for her. She was so happy. The staff were kind and attentive and kept us updated on a regular basis, which we appreciated so much, as we were so worried. Kiya was improving and finally we were able to bring her home on Wednesday 25th once she had started eating on her own. Since being home and eating she is definitely now on the improve. We are exceptionally grateful for the quick thinking and urgent action to save our wee bundle of love".
Lifesaving surgery, although always worth it, is often very expensive and comes at the most unexpected times. Aviva didn't hesitate to pay if it meant saving this precious dogs life.
Aviva honestly did not want to ask (she could barely get it out!) but financially she needs help with the hefty final bill, that came in over $6000. The woman I know that dedicates so much of her time to fundraising and giving back to the community, needs just a little help for her beautiful Kiya.
So here I am setting up a Givealittle Page to help an incredibly deserving woman, family and dog Kiya. Any donations would be greatly appreciated.
Aviva and I became friends helping with 'Baskets of Blessings' creating gift baskets for struggling people in our community. She is beautiful, selfless and caring - just in need of a little bit of help herself although she'd never ask for it! x
Money will go to help pay for Kiya's surgery bill.
Kiya managed to celebrate her Birthday 14 October 2019
Here are some of Miss 5 year olds birthday photos 🐶💖🐾
"We are all overwhelmed by all the love and support for our gorgeous bundle of love 🐶💖🐾 the hugest thank you from the kids and I xx"
However, Kiya is still not out of the woods. She has got really low iron levels after her surgery but the vets are keeping a very close eye on her with various medications. Please keep her in your thoughts for a speedy recovery. xx
