$10,918 of $105,000 goal
Given by 90 generous donors in 2 years

Fr. Ruatamaki Ambo desperately needs dialysis treatment but sadly this is not available in his home country, Kiribati.

Wellington

Kam na mauri & Greetings. We are the Wellington Kiribati Catholic Community (WKCC) and have known Fr. Ruatamaki Ambo over 10 years as a visiting priest. He has helped our community in so many ways by providing spiritual and pastoral services as well as sharing his musical talents. He inspired our young people to understand the importance of spirituality and cultural identity in their lives and how appropriate integration of the two can enhance their holistic development and well-being. We also know that he has done the same for other Kiribati Catholic communities throughout New Zealand and Kiribati. He is currently serving as chaplain for the Auckland Kiribati Catholic Community (AKCC).

Sadly, Fr. Ruatamaki desperately needs dialysis but unfortunately this is not available in our home country of Kiribati. WKCC would like to show our appreciation by helping raise funds for his dialysis treatment and also help the AKCC who are currently his main financial supporters. We are asking you to help us save Fr. Ruatamaki's life with your kind donations. Any amount will go a long way in giving him a second chance at a much needed quality of life. Kam bati n rabwa & Thank you very much.

Wellington Kiribati Catholic Community's involvement (page creator)

The Wellington Kiribati Catholic Community is involved in this cause because we genuinely care for Fr. Ruatamaki's health and well-being. He has done a lot for our community as well as other Kiribati Catholic communities throughout New Zealand & Kiribati and we would like to show our appreciation by helping to raise funds for his dialysis treatment. We also want to help members of the Auckland Kiribati Catholic Community who are largely the financial supporters behind Fr Ruatamaki's treatment. We know that this is a second chance at a much needed quality of life for Fr Ruatamaki, as dialysis treatment is not available in our home country, Kiribati.

About us

The Wellington Kiribati Catholic Community (WKCC) is comprised of about 40 families and became a registered charity in 2013. WKCC's main purpose is to support its members to be good and strong Christians, who are able to contribute towards positive changes within their own families and community as well as the wider community and; also promote the uniqueness of Kiribati culture in celebrating mass and other worshiping activities through the use of Kiribati language, traditional dancing and singing. WKCC is increasingly known for their participation and contribution to multicultural church services and other community events in the Wellington region.

Use of funds

Funds raised will be used to finance Fr. Ruatamaki's dialysis treatment at the cost of about $4150 per month for the next two years. Funds will go into the Wellington Kiribati Catholic Community account at the end of each month to cover Fr. Ruatamaki’s medical expenses.
