Mum was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer and needs help with treatment costs.
Auckland
On the 20th of September we received the heart breaking news that Mum has stage 4 lung cancer. After a series of tests we have been told that Mum does not qualify for government funded treatment and our only hope now is for Mum to receive the drug Keytruda which is estimated to cost $73,000. She has just started her first treatment however with no income will struggle to meet the ongoing costs involved. Without this treatment Dr's have advised Mum would only have 6 months to live. If this treatment is successful the oncologist has advised people in similar circumstances are walking around cancer free 5 years later. I understand this is an expensive time of year but any contributions would be greatly received. Ordinarily I wouldn't ask for money but we cant manage this on our own and I don't know what I would do without my Mum.
Funds will be used to pay for treatment costs.
Great news! 11 January 2018
Hi there, just wanted to update those of you who may not have seen the good news on Facebook.
Mum's latest CT scan showed a significant response to the treatment. However she is having problems with keeping her bloods in check!
The scan has shown a significant reduction in her tumour mass. Her nodes have reduced dramatically, 21mm down to 7mm and her main primary is almost also reduced by around about a quarter.
Mum will continue with her treatment and hopefully its only upwards from here.
Again we cant thank you all enough for your generous donations! It really means a lot to our family xx
