Early valley road residents Ken and Denise McKenzie have lost their farm to the February 2017 Christchurch Port Hills fires.
Canterbury
Ken and Denise McKenzie have lost 25 years of native tree establishment, A 100 tree feijoa orchard and over 20km of fencing along with all the grass on their 100 acre farm in Lansdowne Valley. Unfortunately this is all uninsured as ironically the only item insured on the property was the house which sustained only minimal damage thanks to the helicopter crews in the air that day (as seen in John Campbell's checkpoint video below)
The McKenzie's have spent the last 25 years preparing their farm for their dream of living off the land. Prior to the fires they were 90% self sustaining with fruit trees, gardens and livestock. The farm was also their main source of income following Kens retirement in December 2016.
Any donations of Native trees, fencing supplies, grass seed and labour would be greatly appreciated.

Ken and Denise are too humble and proud to ask for any help themselves. As a friend I thought that I would do this for them and their family so they can start to rebuild what they once had.
We are looking for funds to put towards the replacement of fences so that the farm can begin to work again, the cost of replacing the fences alone has been estimated at $90000.
