Laura and her boys have lost their beloved Leslie in a tragic incident while out enjoying his favourite past time swimming.

Leslie Gelberger a much loved husband, father, friend and teacher at Westlake girls school. Was an avid outdoors man who lived for his family.

Laura and the boys need financial support during this trying time as Leslie's teaching job was their only source of income. It is hard at times of tragedy to think beyond the pain, however Laura and her boys need ALL YOUR SUPPORT at this time.

We are Laura's friends who are rallying around her in this greatest of all tragedies. Laura is a Conscious Kids supervisor and a much loved mum and supporter of the Conscious kids way of life. As Leslie and Laura are Canadian their families are not in NZ and we feel Laura needs our support more than ever at this time.

Use of funds

As Leslie was the only source of income for his family at the time of his untimely death, the funds raised will go to Laura to help her continue to raise their boys during this tragic time.

Thank you a million times over. The response to this page has been mind boggling. Thank you for giving us the breathing space we will need to come to terms with our 'new normal' and figure out our next steps without Leslie. We have truly felt the love and support that so many have shared with us.

The boys are handling things remarkably well and although there are tears and tantrums they are getting through the days with unbelievable resilience. They get me out of bed each day and give me hope for the next.

Thank you also to the many many people who shared the celebration of Leslie's life with us on Sunday. There were so many kind people and I know Leslie would have loved the sheer amount of cake that we celebrated with (and would have been trying to sample each one!).

Thank you for giving me the strength to get through this.
