Robert Irving – Give a little for stem cell treatment Russia, Moscow

Thank you for reading this givealittle story about my Husband, Robert.

Some of you might recognize him, he is a Co-Founder of Rex Bionics, a New Zealand Company that builds exoskeletons to help people who otherwise use wheelchairs to be able to stand and walk.

Robert and his best mate Richard Little started the company because of Robert’s diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis and since then he has helped hundreds of people across the world to walk again, but it’s not just walking, using his invention which he first sketched up on a back of a beer coaster and started in a humble garage 14years ago can give users life changing health benefits too.

See some of Robert’s work highlighted in the inspirational short film unsung heroes of science video

Robert’s MS is progressing; it is affecting his life and activities of daily living and he urgently needs treatment that is not available here in New Zealand but that is rapidly gaining acceptance elsewhere in the world. Robert has been lucky enough to receive an appointment in Moscow for treatment in June of this year. The treatment called HSCT is a stem cell treatment that will replace Robert’s faulty immune system and leave him MS free.

Robert has dedicated the last 14 years of his life helping others and while he has been hugely successful in doing this he has gained very little financially from his work and so now we need your help to allow him to carry on his incredibly valuable contribution to society.

Not only is Robert a wonderful husband and step father to my son Jayden he is a caring and creative person who has been there for so many people, he is a big part of the Auckland M.S Society being a committee member for over 3 years and doing everything from raising money to mentoring newly diagnosed M.S patents and helping them see that you can still live a full life.

This medical miracle does come with a price tag of $90,000 and we are asking for your help to partly fund it, even though it’s so hard for him to ask we won’t make it unless we get your help! No contribution is too small and we thank you in advance for your help from the bottom of our hearts.

Robert Is my wonderful husband and I want him to carry on with creations and enjoy a full family life. You may ask why we need this now and not do the treatment later, Well Robert is 50 and there is a cut off at 50 for stem cell treatments and these appointments are hard to come by and it was just by chance we got a slot in Russia.its also a treatment that is better before another relapse like the one he had last year which saw him in bed without the use of his arms and legs for a over a month and only with the help of steroids and sheer determination that got him back up and moving around.

Use of funds

Funds will be used for Roberts HSCT TREATMENT, travel expenses, family support expenses, and living expenses to cover treatment and recovery.
