Roy Parker suffered a ruptured Brain Aneurysm while at work. He will require ongoing intensive rehabilitation and his wife and three sons need your support!

On Sunday 23 July 2017, Roy, a self-employed Technician for Sky Television was at work when he collapsed.

Doctors told Roy’s wife of 30 years, Tanya, that his prognosis was grim and to prepare for the worst!

Roy spent twelve weeks in Waikato Hospital and underwent five neurological surgery procedures with another scheduled in January 2018.

Following his release from hospital last week, Roy was transferred to the Acquired Brain Injury Centre (ABI) in Auckland.

Roy is in the ‘Acute’ phase of his Intensive Rehabilitation Programme, the emphasis is on enhancing natural recovery and establishing strategies that promote independence.

The reason why I wanted to create this page was to find ways of helping Roy, Tanya and their whānau anyway possible - Tanya is a part of my wider whānau, and whānau help each other regardless of the situation. Not only has this been a traumatic experience for them, but to not have to think about the small things that a koha from the wider whānau/community can help with, would be taking the weight of the world off of their shoulders.

Use of funds

The goal is to get Roy home with his family and loved ones to a life of independence, self-worth and dignity.

Funds raised will go directly to Roy’s family, in an effort to relieve some of the financial burden, and to help make some of the necessary changes to their home.
