I am asking for help for the Merivale Community Garden, in Tauranga. The fruit , veg, workshops are free Building community
Bay of Plenty
The garden is not for profit and has charitable status. The community and surrounding areas, is low socio economic , and sadly getting worst. With the price of fresh food skyrocketing the garden is in high demand. It is difficult to keep up with it! The garden began 5 years ago, it has grown in so many different ways. I think one of the most important, is the fact the community is getting so involved, so we are growing community, sad that we have to learn it. This knowledge is how we will survive the future. We teach from the beginning , Soil, seed, organics, worm farming, herbs and the different uses, cooking and medical (Teas etc). Please help the garden to help the community.
I am the coordinator and one of the founder of the garden. I have always felt blessed to be part of growing the garden and it's community. We have always run on next to nothing and the kindness of folks and some organisation. Every little bit is so appreciated
The Merivale Community Garden is a Incorporated Society and a Registered Charity. The garden provides free vegetables, classes and a great sense of community. We have been going now for 6 years and over that time more and more people have come together to to help keep the garden beautiful and productive. The garden is a big part of not only Merivale, but Tauranga as well. The garden is a drug and alcohol free zone, so is safe and welcoming for all the family. What we raise we use on plants seeds and maintaining the garden. If you choose to help the garden, I thank you very much for your support.
The funds will be used for the following.
Seeds and seedlings , seed raising mix. compost ( in between what we make), screws and nails and wood, for maintenance, rubbish bags and removal, looking after the volunteers (very important), rodent removal, paint (we do our own signs), Keeping the garden going
