We are raising funds to send a little Sherpa boy to school. His name is Dawa Sherpa and he lives in Lukla in the Himalayas.

Dawa was born in 2013. His father is a Sherpa porter. He and his family live on a small farm where they grow potatoes. Dawa is the youngest of six so the financial burden of educating a sixth child is heavy.

I am involved in this project because I met Dawa on my visit to Nepal in 2016. His father works occasionally for a Sherpa friend of mine, which is how I came to hear of and meet Dawa.

Use of funds

We would like to fund his education at the Himalayan English Boarding School which costs about NZD$1,500 per year.
