Harrison has been suffering up to 50 seizures per day since he was 6 weeks old. Living far apart The Blatch family are all supporting Harry.
Auckland
"Our darling Harrison was born in a rush on 11th October 2014. All was great until he was 6 weeks old and started having seizures in the middle of the night. We had to drive 2.5 hours to Dunedin hospital. Since then he's had up to 50 seizures a day and has had every test under the sun to try and find the cause. These have included MRIs, ECGs, EEGs, lumbar punctures and more blood tests in his short life than we've had in ours combined. We've tried many medications to control the seizures and nothing has worked for more than a few days.
The next step is to try high dose steroid treatments and we can only pray that these work for our Harry. It unfortunately means our Harry will have a suppressed immune system for the coming months, plus there are many other potential side effects.
Outside of hospital stays (which currently is most of the time), our older son Lachlan (2), Harrison and I (Kelly-Anne) have been staying at my parents house in Auckland to be close to the specialists at Starship Hospital. This means our little family is split at the moment - Haydn has had to return to work in Gore to pay the mortgage and bills, and he flys up every couple of weeks to see us. This has been extremely hard as we are at completely different ends of the country and this is difficult at times. (we should take out air nz shares!!)
Throughout this experience that has literally put the normality of life on hold, we remain positive and the love that we have for our boys grows stronger by the day. Harrison is a beautiful little boy and we can not wait to take him home".
This page has been set up for The Blatch Family to support them on this journey. As you can appreciate travel costs are huge including flights to and from Gore, travel costs around Auckland, ongoing treatments for Harry and living constantly in Hospital is expensive.
