Cameron Davies is on the road to recovery after a traumatic incident on a bike. and has a long journey ahead of him. Help support Cameron

Auckland

On Friday 26th October, Cameron was involved in an accident on his bike of which two cars were involved.

Cameron was rushed to hospital on life support due to many broken bones, a collapsed lung and a traumatic brain injury. Initially, Cameron was given days to live... He has since surprised medical staff and has fought like many thought he couldn't. As is the case with brain injuries, we just don't know where this could end up, but Cam is showing us that he is in it for the long haul and has made a huge amount of progress since being admitted to ICU. After 7 days, Cam has now left ICU and is in HDU.

Cam is often known as being a quiet, dedicated and well-loved individual by his family, friends, school and cycling community, and much further. He will need all the love and support around him on this journey, which has already been an overwhelming experience how many people have reached out to share this journey with his family.

Please consider making a donation to his cause and recovery. Any amount will be greatly appreciated and will help relieve the stress from Cameron and his family as they focus on taking small steps on his road to recovery.

We are also fundraising for Cameron by selling Laser Etched Steerer Top Caps with STRENGTH FOR CAM 26/10/2018; see mock-up image. They are $25 each with all proceeds going to Cam’s recovery.

Please register your interest by emailing strengthforcam@gmail.com stating the quantity required and delivery address.

You’ll receive an auto reply with payment instructions. Orders & payment need to be received by 5pm Friday 9th November 2018.

Expected delivery End of November.

Cameron is surprising us all!  13 November 2018

Cameron is doing really well, and it has now been 18 days since his accident. He is out of High Dependency Unit and has made some amazing steps to start his recovery. Yesterday he was awake when I saw him, he attempted to pass me his stress ball when I asked for it and lifted his hand to shake mine when I told him I was going, and put some force into his grip. He was following movements and commands around the room, and is starting to recognise people. He is responding well to physio and the only tube he is hooked up to is his feeding tube. He can zoom in and out of photos on a phone, pause a song and swipe left and right through a phone. It's a long journey ahead but he's surprising us all
