Parents helping Junior NZ Volleyball Team to get to Australian Tour

Friends, sports fans, parents of athletes, Kiwi's and Volleyballers...

Okay, while I donate here and there, it's my turn to ask for money. Not for me or even solely for my kid, but for my kid and some of his teammates.

My goal is pretty simple. I want to raise NZ$12,000 to help top-up the teams funds. Each kid needs $4000 to tour and they are all raising funds on their own, some will make it, others may not. I promised my kid that I would help 50% so beyond that all donations will go to Volleyball New Zealand to distribute across the men's and women's Juniors.

Important to remember is that this is about more than just playing on a Volleyball tour. These boys and girls will not only be representing their country, but also their families, schools, and communities. It should be a proud moment for these youngsters and an opportunity where they will grow as young adults. Whatever they choose to do in life I am sure this opportunity should make them proud representatives who give back to their communities in future.

BACKGROUND INFO:

Volleyball New Zealand receives just 2% of a small funding pool provided by Sports New Zealand (that puts them at 17th behind Bowls or Badminton but slightly ahead of Outrigger Canoes known as Waka Ama *). Basically this means the kids are self-funded.

Coming from all over the country these boys and girls come from a wide range of communities - for some it will be easier than others to raise money. That's why I am doing this - not for my boy as much as for the whole team.

For reference:

NZ$20 = JPY1400 (it all counts - thank you!)

NZ$50 = JPY3600 (hopefully we can at least get here)

NZ$100 = JPY7300 (really feeling it - thank you!!)

NZ$1000 = JPY73000 (thanks Mum!!!)

FUNDING DETAILS:

Any funds beyond $2000 will be donated to Volleyball New Zealand to help fund the other players.
