Thursday, March 8, Corey was rushed up to Starship Hospital in the middle of the night. By Friday 9th of March, Corey was undergoing chemo.

What they had thought was a liver infection (terrifying enough for any parent) they had now been informed was something much worse. Test results indicate this is neuroblastoma, although the diagnosis could change. What we do know for certain is that this is a very aggressive tumour. Within a day of arriving in Starship, Corey was undergoing his first round of chemotherapy. His tiny 20 month old torso has been swollen by the tumor, the situation is very risky and treatment of Corey's condition is not straightforward. His is an unusual and, frankly, terrifying situation. Cancer is a word that we hear a lot unfortunately, but that this has happened to someone so sweet and young is beyond comprehension. This is a long term stay in the hospital for Corey, as well as Hayden and Aly, and any help people can offer is received with a huge amount of gratitude. If donating money is not an option for you, then please send your prayers, keep Corey in your thoughts, and hope for the best.
Corey's parents are very good friends with myself and my partner. Corey's mum and I were pregnant together and our boys are three months apart in age.
The money will be used to help Corey's parents manage their costs while caring for Corey, and helping Corey enjoy his time in the hospital.
How Corey is doing.. 12 September 2018
This Givealittle page expires today so here is a brief update on where Corey is at in his treatment.
Corey has had six rounds of chemo, along with numerous other medical procedures along the way, and had surgery to remove the growth from his abdomen. While the surgery was a success, removing more than 90% of the tumor, since surgery there have been some unexpected and scary developments.
Aly & Hayden are waiting anxiously for definite results but signs indicate that Corey's situation is not going to follow the anticipated path, and is now in all likelihood going to require international hospitalisation and treatment.
There will be a new Givealittle page setup, as well as a Facebook page with regular updates on Corey's increasingly dangerous battle.
Once the Facebook page has been setup, it will be shared by Aly, Hayden, Malinda, and many others so please keep an eye out for it if you are wanting to support and pray for this incredible family as they continue on this painful road together.
(If you are worried about missing the page once it is setup then please message Malinda Wynyard on Facebook and she will notify you personally once it is live.)
