Helping Sonika get her life back!

My sister suffers from Lipoedema stage 3 with lymphedema which is a very rare disease that is making it extremely hard to find someone who can help.

She also suffers from Endometriosis, Fibromyalgia and Dermatomyositis which is a muscular degenerative disease.

The Doctors have advise her that there is no cure for these illnesses but they can treat them to help her have better quality of life but also stay mobile.

The Lipoedema is currently affecting the Dermatomyositis so badly that she is struggling to work and some days will power through helping her clients even if she is in severe pain but will still help with a smile no matter what as she needs to provide for her family.

These illnesses are affecting her 24 hours every day where she is constantly in pain but still working to support her family.

She has been searching for information and assistance on these illnesses but there is currently no treatment in New Zealand due to it being so rare.

She has finally managed to find a Dr in Australia that knows about the disease and offered her treatment so she would have a better quality of life with much less pain, however in order for her to be able to get the treatment she would need to travel to Australia. She was advised that she would need to undergo 4 operations which also means a lot of additional costs for flights,accommodation and medication if they are given. Once advanced stage 4 is reached there is no operational treatment options at all.

She would still need ongoing life long treatment MLD ( Manual Lymph Drainage), Compression stockings, limited suitable food options and this does not include all of the medication needed for the other illnesses.

Without this treatment she has been advised that within 5 years she would not be able work anymore as her muscles including heart and kidneys would have been deteriorated so badly as the DM with Lipoedema affect those the most.

This treatment would be adding years to her life. As a mother seeing her son grow up, get married and growing old with her loving husband is the most precious blessings a lot of us take for granted.

This is my wish for the best sister, more loving and helpful person who does everything for others and never asks for anything in return.
