Support for baby Hudson's family as he undergoes medical treatment for seizures
West Coast
At one day old, baby Hudson unexpectedly suffered a stroke and subsequent seizures. He was flown from Greymouth to Christchurch hospital, four hours from the family's home in Westport, for medical care and is currently undergoing tests.
Hudson's mother Kylie will remain in Christchurch until they are able to take him home.
However, his father Chris will need to travel between Christchurch and Westport to care for their older daughter Layken and to work.
From next week, until Kylie and Hudson can come home, Layken will need full time care during the week, as they do not have family living in Westport to help them.
This fund has been created to help with the costs of travel, childcare, and any other daily needs for the family until Hudson is well enough to come home, so that Kylie and Chris can concentrate Hudson's medical needs and helping him get better.
One week old today! 29 January 2016
Little Hudson is one week old today!
He has been off the ventilator and breathing on his own for the last three days now. The medication he is on is continuing to prevent any further seizures.
Because of this he was moved out of the "High Priority" room last night, and from the incubator into a cot.
Such good news for this sweet little boy who has been through so much during his first week in the world.
Another MRI is scheduled for Monday for this little champ, so they should get a better idea of how he is doing.
