Give a little for Georgia and Lani

$50,645 donated
Given by 1008 generous donors in over a year

Georgia and Lani Robertson (2 and 5) are two gorgeous sisters from Wellington who can’t wait til Christmas. Only their mum won't be there.

Nationwide

Their mother Amy has bravely fought a gruelling 3 year battle with liver, bowel, bone and brain cancer which tragically ended her life on 21 November.

The 37 year old nurse was a doting mum who was diagnosed with cancer when Lani was a baby. Her partner Brenden Robertson (AKA DJ Topknot) had to give up work to care for Amy and the girls. Amy’s sickness and Brenden’s loss of income meant the family were not able to move house from their tiny 1.5 bedroom flat. Due to the lack of space, the family used a storage unit to store most of their belongings in Kilbirnie. In a cruel twist of fate, the family lost all their possessions in April 2014 when the storage unit was destroyed by arson –including Georgia and Lani’s clothes, irreplaceable family war memorabilia, musical equipment and Brenden’s prized records.

The family have barely been scraping by and now face the devastating loss of their mother and partner. If you can, please give a little to help this special Wellington family through a very difficult time.

Thank you all  24 August 2015

Hi everybody, Brenden here, father of Georgia and Lani, and partner to Amy.

I would like to deeply say thank you to you all, for helping my family through this time in our lives, to have been involved in helping my girls and I with support. To have helped us take the strain of what we have and are going through.

It's true to say, we are struggling with everything, but having had help from good people coming forth with thoughts and wisdom and financial help, has made this time and period in our lives easier, and for myself less stressful on levels I had not seen coming.

The girls have been my rock and are so happy being little girls. Big questions are asked, and we work through these things as best we can.

We are taking small steps each day. This year my health has been to say the least, not very good. But now it is starting to improve.

My goals are for the girls to be settled and happy and functioning well, with good support, and myself to be healthy.

When the give a little page was set up, prior to Amy passing, it was a strange, new concept for us, having been very quiet about what we were going through, and we struggled to get our head around it. As time passed, and our lives unfolded the way they have, we really needed some support, I really can't say in words alone to say thank you and how much you all have helped our family be able to function. My girls are young and don't realise the impact you all have had on our lives, helping the way you have. I do, and I am so thankful. You all have made a huge difference to my girls and I.

Thank you so much for being a friend, a friend's friend or a friend of a friend, a caring person in our community that just wanted to help, or someone from around the world that cared. Someone that has been through something similar. Everybody. You have all helped my family to move forward in this time.

Thank you all.

Brenden, Georgia and Lani xxx
