This page is set up to help my brother and his family after the devastating news that their 9yr old daughter Izabelle has cancer.

Manawatu / Whanganui

On Monday 3.7.17 Izabelle Byres-Adair 9 year old daughter of Mike and Sonia and sister of four siblings, Jessica (6), Bailee (14) Donna, (17), Shima (18), was taken to the doctors with a sore tummy, they treated her for a urinary tract infection, they also felt a lump in Izabelles tummy and rebooked another appiontment for the 06/07/17 to look into to it further. Later that night Izabelle pains got worse, she was taken to Palmerston North Hospital where they did an Ultrasound, CT Scan and X-Rays. They found an 14cm by 6cm mass in Izabelles abdominal area.

Izabelle was amitted to Palmerston North Hospital on the 04/07/17. On Wednesday the 05/07/17 Izabelle was flown to Starship Hospital on the Life-Flight plane with her mum, Sonia and was soon joined by father Mike and her sisters. After more scans and tests they decided to operate and remove an imploded cancerous tumor, that had started in Izabelles right ovary. On 07/07/17 the doctors operated on Izabelle to remove the tumor, they removed Izabelles ovary but could not remove all the tumor due to it being attached to other vital organs. Two weeks of further testing comfrimed it was germ cell cancer (Dysgerminoma) more tests, more scans and a treatment plan was made.

On the 27/07/17 the doctors inserted a port (Permanent IV line) in Izabelles right rib that goes from the main artery to the heart. They access this to administer Chemotherapy. She has three types of Chemotherapy a day for three days, the three weeks rest and recovery time before having to go back to Starship for further treatment.

Izabelle hair is falling out, her immune system is also highly compromised, she can not currently go to school or public areas. Izabelle is back at home in Palmerston North after a very traumatizing time for her and her family. We have been told by the doctors that Izabelle will probably get better with treatment and follow ups for the rest of her life.

We are so grateful to the doctors that found it early enough that it is treatable at this time. special thanks to family and friends for being there and helping, the doctors at Palms Medical for finding the lump, Palmerston Hopital A & E for acting so fast, Life Flight for getting Izabelle to Starship, to the Doctors, Nurses Surgeons and social workers and the C.C Foundation. Special thanks to the Child Play Specialists at Starship on wards 3,4,and 7 and another special thanks to the team at Grafton Mews Ronald McDonald House who have made this all just bearable and will continue to be there for Izabelle during her treatment.

Izabelle is such a strong, loving and beautiful girl. She has a smile that shines through all her fears and after everything she has been through, and is yet to face, she is still smiling. Being a single income family and having to take time off work to be with Izabelle through this scary and uncertain time is taking a financial strain on the family. Please help. They are needeing some help so thst both of her parents can be with Izabelle as much as they can.

PLEASE CAN YOU GIVE A LITTLE.
