After a public playground fall last July, three year old Jai suffered a serious brain bleed and wasn't expected to live. Three weeks later
The monkey bars were removed and you may have read in the paper about his amazing progress, but the truth is that every day is a struggle. Jai now has a diminished respect for safety so the family’s humble goal is to build a safe and stimulating play area in their yard along with additional therapy to aid Jai’s recovery

In July 2013 at age three our amazing boy had a simple fall on a public playground. This could have happened to any any kiwi family. Hitting his head on the matting below Jai suffered a serious brain bleed - one that would change all of our lives forever. The jungle gym was removed the next day but the damage was done. Not expected to survive, three weeks later our 'miracle boy' woke from his coma. Not expected to talk or move again, he can. A happy ending the newspapers report, but the journey for the Ihaka family was just beginning. Seeing signs shine through of our darling boy's old personality is heartwarming beyond belief but every day is a challenge and while there is no end in sight, we know that with a little bit of help from others life could be so much more manageable. And Jai could get the best possible recovery at this crucial time for his brain injury.
Funds will be paid to a verified bank account of Jai Ihaka.
