Please help me raise $5000 towards helping Syrian Refugees start a new life in Greece!

Change for Chios
In the conversations I have had with people it staggers me to know how little our understanding is about what is going on in Syria at the moment. This is the worst humanitarian crisis since World War II. Put simply, six years of war has torn Syria apart. Hundreds of thousands of innocent people have been killed in this conflict, and more than half the population - 11 million people - have been displaced - that’s almost 3 times the New Zealand population being forced from their homes.
My name is Sophie and in September I am joining Involvement Volunteers International to work on the front line in Chios, Greece. Chios is a direct hotspot for boat arrivals from Turkey, and the amazing volunteers there are assisting with the boat arrivals and aid of Syrian Refugees. In the 48 hours since writing this, I’ve been told by the volunteer liaison in Chios that 300 new refugees have arrived on the beach. Most of them are orphaned children.
My trip to Greece will be self funded and I have created this Givealittle page in the hope that many of those who don’t have the time to join me on my trip will help assist in other ways. Your donation will be giving these refugees the immediate care they need; food, aid and shelter.
