First up I was involved in a car accident when I was 4 months of age in 1966 where I was thrown under a car seat and due to this accident

Waikato

Late in 2013 I was diagnosed with compression of the spine which also effects the back, arms and hands and fingers where nerves had been lost. I was told by surgeons that the operation could had gone either way where they had to shave down the three vertebrae’s each bone took up to an hour each to do one thing they said they could cut an artery and I could be paralyzed the second one I rather not think of;

Since then the surgeons, registrars, and my doctors all had told me to take things easy, but within the last 12 months my mobility had decreased rapidly as it used to take me 25 minutes to go into town now takes up to 90 minutes just to walk 3 km’s. I find myself having trouble in some things were I can’t travel by car as it does hurt my back, even on a bus for long periods of time can cause extreme pain. At this point in time I have a scooter, but this is classed as small and is not suitable for me as the location where I am I need to climb hills as to this heavy duty mobility scooter it will give me freedom to not only get to the doctors, but to chemist, foot podiatrist,(as i had been diagnosed with diabetes since 1997) shopping and visit people the type I am looking for is mainly a heavy duty scooter with the usual accessories like front and back basket and a cane holder so I can place my walking stick in, that’s if they don’t add a walker with everything.

I tried twice with the lotteries grant board and have been declined due to funding tried going through finance companies and they tell me that it would cost $85.00 per week at that rate and being on a benefit I was left with not much to live on.

Use of funds

The funds will ensure that there is a mobility scooter suitable for me to get to the Doctors, Podiatrists, Chemist for prescriptions and shopping.

If there is any over it will help in the day to day up keep in servicing it.
