Help our Heron
Heron needs help. Our resident rescue Heron has had a head injury and needs Vet treatment. Help us help Heron!
Heron is a rescue that arrived at Bird Rescue as a chick fallen from its nest.
Just before it was due to be released we saw that its toe was growing funny and it turned out that the toe had to be amputated. Because of the surgery it was decided that Heron would be soft released onsite at Bird Rescue so that we could ensure that it always had a place to go to for food if it needed it.
Last year we think that Heron had its first ever nest and baby Herons to feed as it came in for food a lot more than usual (even though it was fending for itself).
Sadly a couple of days ago Heron showed up at the centre with a nasty head wound which was shocking to see as Heron shows up regularly for food when it needs it and was missing for a week before he came in for feed.
Heron needs help! We dont know what happened to Heron but we think that someone or some other bird has hit Heron on the head and caused this injury.
Please help us help Heron - your donation will go directly to Herons vet bill
New Zealand Bird Rescue relies on the generosity of New Zealanders to continue our work in caring for New Zealand wildlife. Your donation helps our centres to operate by giving us funds to purchase feed, medical supplies, equipment etc so that the birds can be treated, rehabilitated and released back into the environment.
