Walker family koha after Hooky's motorbike crash to support mum to be there for hooky while in ICU and during his journey to recovery.
Canterbury
Michael Walker, or Hooky as he's mostly known, is our dad, husband, best friend and brother to many.
On Saturday 24th Oct he was involved in a serious crash while out for a nice evening ride on his beloved Harley. He was airlifted into Christchurch Hospital with mum by his side and placed in an induced coma while the Dr's start their investigations and to allow his body to begin to heal.
He has suffered multiple fractures over his entire body, bleeding on his brain and a collapsed lung. We've just found out he is now also fighting a chest infection to top it all off.
Mum will be driving in daily to be with him, and being 1.5 hours drive away from the hospital I thought we could set up this page to allow everyone to give a little koha to go towards her upcoming costs, just to help ease that stress a bit.
Hooky is loved by many, he will give his heart, soul and the shirt off his back to help anyone in need, no doubt he has a special place in your heart if you're here offering to help him. Mum is a beautiful soul too, who would be mortified that people are giving them money to help out but its times like this where your good karma comes around to support and help you when you need it the most.
Thank you for your help, big or small, its all very very appreciated.
Daughter raising money for my mum and dad.
Money will go towards mum's petrol costs, accomodation in Christchurch and general bills etc while we sort out how to move forward.
Thank you so very much for your support 9 November 2020
I just wanted to take the time to say thank you all so so much. The support our family has received is truly overwhelming and thats all down to you!
I wish I could share some good news with you but unfortunately we don't have anything yet. Hooky is still not out of the woods, he's still sedated in ICU and with every day that passes he's at risk of getting more and more infections (due to the breathing tubes etc)
We are hoping for his third surgery to be on Thursday (9th Nov) and after that they can look at removing the tubes and start to wake him up.
Until then we still can't assess his actual level of brain activity.
I ask now that everyone shares our page to continue with the support and help for mum so she can be by his side for as long as this takes. Id love to be able to take away the financial stress for them both with the upcoming travel and appointments Hooky is bound to have.
Thank you again, every little bit counts and is greatly appreciated xx
He is incredibly humbled by all the amazing support, thank you so much xx
