We urgently need to purchase medical equipment for the use of our terminally ill patients, due to the increase in patient numbers.
Northland
Hospice Mid-Northland provides all our patients with the use of vital medical equipment to ensure their comfort and safety.
We are not funded to purchase any medical equipment.
Due to increased patient numbers we are juggling and prioritizing equipment, such as beds, pressure relieving mattresses and syringe drivers. Our replenishment plan is no longer effective with the fluctuating patient numbers and we are currently updating this. Unfortunately equipment does at times get returned broken and lately we have seen an increase in this which also adds pressure to our supply of equipment. Right now we need to purchase 2 beds plus pressure relieving mattresses and 2 syringe drivers urgently for the direct use of our patients.
Hospice Mid-Northland provides community based specialist palliative care to patients living with a life limiting illness in the mid north area. From Taupo Bay in the North to Towai in the south and coast to coast including South Hokianga, a population of approximately 40,000 people.
Hospice receives up to 41% of its funding through the Northland District Health Board. The balance needed to care for our patients is funded through the generosity of the community, Hospice Shops, donations, fundraising and bequests.
This money will be used to purchase 2 patient beds, 2 pressure relieving mattresses and also 2 syringe drivers. These syringe drivers deliver necessary medication to our patients intravenously. Any surplus will be used for more equipment.
