InMotion Matariki is a magical fully-accessible all-wheels parade, through Auckland's Wynyard Quarter, on Saturday July 21st.

Auckland

We are currently organising InMotion Matariki, our FREE annual magical illuminated all-wheels parade along the Auckland waterfront, scheduled for Saturday 21st July. Each year we invite the public to decorate their wheels - bicycles, wheelchairs, scooters, roller-skates - and enjoy pockets of performance art as they meander through the Viaduct and Wynyard Quarter. The event explores the theme of Matariki: the Maori New Year, and is part of Auckland Council's Matariki Festival. It's also a rare opportunity for all of Auckland to enjoy a truly inclusive and fully accessible outdoor event.

We are also in the throes of developing a comprehensive school educational resource to support the parade and address themes relating to Matariki, performance art and disability awareness (diversity); all within the context of the New Zealand school curriculum. Schools, in the Auckland region, have been asked to register their interest via our InMotion website, and it's fantastic to see the immediate high level of demand for this type of resource.

Touch Compass are really keen that the parade and school resource have a high production value and leaves the audience in a state of WOW. As a small Not-for-Profit organisation we are inviting the general public to get involved and to help fund this exciting event!

“It was a great parade! Magical, colourful, sparkly, glowing and full of energy. Happy vibrations filled the air! The participation of such positivity is extraordinary.“ - Jane (parade participant in 2017)

“Would love to see how our children respond to such an event. 600 primary students Y0-8” - an Auckland school teacher in eager anticipation of InMotion Matariki 2018
