It takes a community to save and raise a fine young man...

On Friday 31 st January 2020, the Enzo and his mates went for a swim as they often did from the wharf in Moncks Bay Christchurch. Playing around on the sand island in the middle of the estuary, Enzo Halliburton dived into the water and did not resurface.

Unbeknown to his friends he had seriously injured his spine in that dive, and could not use his legs.

When his friends realized they pulled his now unconscious body from the water and began

mouth to mouth resuscitation. The boys called for help and were assisted by the St Johns

Ambulance, and also the Sumner Surf Life Saving.

Enzo is currently being treated in ICU at Christchurch Hospital and will be transferred to

Burwood Spinal Unit in due course.

Enzo has suffered a C5-C7 spinal injury that will result in life in a chair and many challenges, unknowns and complications to overcome.

One thing we know for sure is that Enzo has been growing into a fine young man with a generous heart and an adventurous spirit. He will repay your support by continuing to become a fine young man and to live life to the maximum.
