Representing New Zealand in The Junior World Boxing Championship held in Russia in September this year
Auckland
Hi, my name is Jayden Downs. I have been given the opportunity to represent New Zealand in a sport that I love, which is boxing. I am heading to Russia in August to compete in the Junior World Boxing Championship.
My journey of being an elite athlete has taught me so much about myself, such as my strengths and weaknesses, and how hard I can push myself physically and mentally. I have competed at the New Zealand national championships, Australian golden gloves and the New Zealand golden gloves, where I learned so much more about my sport. To become a world-class athlete I had to push my limits and develop incredible self-discipline. The thing is, I want more, and I know I can do more. I am ready to push my limits even further as I know that I can work my way onto a podium.
I started Boxing when I was 10 years old because I wanted to try something new for a change and I fell in love with it. Along the way, I have won 2 national titles, 3 Golden Glove titles, most scientific cadet boxer in the New Zealand nationals in 2012 and the most scientific junior boxer in the North Island Golden Gloves earlier this year, also winning Numerous Championship titles around New Zealand. My main goal now is to compete at the 2018 Commonwealth games held in the Gold Coast, Australia, and the 2020 Olympic Games held in Tokyo.
In order for me to compete in Russia I need to raise around $6,000 which go towards my Flights, Accommodation and Transport.
Any donations will be much appreciate as they will help me to reach my goal to become a world champion.
You’re sincerely
Jayden Downs
