**Support for Papa Watty: A Fight Against Leukemia**
My stepdad, Papa Watty, has been bravely battling leukemia for the past few years. This year, his condition has worsened, and he now needs daily blood and cell transfusions to survive. The wait for a stem cell donor has been overwhelming for our family.
Doctors explain that the transplant process is extensive, demanding Papa Watty to be strong both physically and mentally. He is doing his best to stay positive, focusing on a healthy diet and preparing for the transplant once a donor is found.
Currently, he is staying in Tauranga Hospital an hour away from home, and cannot return until the transplant is complete, which may take at least three months. This situation has led to significant financial strain as he has had to step away from work. My mother is doing her best to juggle work and traveling to support him during this challenging time which has been hard for her as she needs her income to.
The donations we receive will help cover his rent, power, and bills that can no longer be managed. Additionally, these funds will assist with travel expenses while they navigate this difficult period away from home.
We are reaching out for your support in this fight against leukemia. Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a meaningful difference in ensuring Papa Watty has the resources he needs. Thank you for your generosity and support as we strive to bring hope and healing to our beloved Papa Watty.
The funds will provide vital support for Papa Watty by covering his rent, utilities, and bills, allowing him to focus on his recovery, while also helping with travel expenses for our family to be by his side during this challenging journey.
Fight continues 3 April 2025
Here is a heartfelt update.
Our family is grateful to share that my step-dad has safely arrived in Auckland and completed all the necessary tests to prepare for his upcoming treatment. Tomorrow, he will have a central line inserted, which will help facilitate the intensive chemotherapy that lies ahead.
Over the next 4 days, he will undergo high-dose chemotherapy, followed by a rest day, and then he will begin his stem cell transplant therapy. This is a critical and challenging stage of his treatment, and we would be deeply appreciative of your continued prayers and support during this fight.
To those who have already generously donated, we cannot thank you enough. Your kindness and compassion mean the world to us, and your contributions are making a significant difference as we navigate this long and difficult journey.
If you have not yet had a chance to donate, we would be eternally grateful for any contribution you can make, no matter the size. Every little bit helps, and together, we can ensure my step-dad receives the best possible care and has the resources he needs to overcome this battle.
Thank you all for your unwavering support. We feel truly blessed to have such a caring community surrounding us during this time.
