My stepdad, Papa Watty, has been bravely battling leukemia for the past few years. This year, his condition has worsened, and he now needs daily blood and cell transfusions to survive. The wait for a stem cell donor has been overwhelming for our family.

Doctors explain that the transplant process is extensive, demanding Papa Watty to be strong both physically and mentally. He is doing his best to stay positive, focusing on a healthy diet and preparing for the transplant once a donor is found.

Currently, he is staying in Tauranga Hospital an hour away from home, and cannot return until the transplant is complete, which may take at least three months.
