Did you ever meet one of those kids that you thought, “this guy is going to be a leader, a creator, a great husband and dad when he gets older.”

At 17 years, old Josh was the National Secondary School Triathlon champion, a dedicated athlete that had huge talent and urge to win.

At 21 years Josh was diagnosed as having an ongoing illness.

And so, began a journey that no matter how hard Josh tried the “voices” in Josh’s head took over this gentle and talented young man and goaded him to self-harm. Josh chose to self-harm and he now lies in Waikato Hospital with a non-functional brain.

Life for Josh is not remembered by his mental illness but by his SMILE, kindness and determination to always improve in all areas of his life with family, sport and career. You would always make the most of his happiness and appreciate every moment of his caring and generous spirit.

Those who walk Josh’s life with him, now sit at his bedside hoping for a miracle that will bring the Josh they know and love back to them.

We would all like to be there with Josh as he starts this journey of hope, and despair at the thought that his recovery is so uncertain.

However, we can all help Josh’s young family. His wife, 10-year-old son, 6-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter by making a donation to cater for the support the family needs at this time, his children’s education and their future.
