Help Josh progress in the theatre world.
Manawatu / Whanganui
For those of you who know us know Josh has always been a theatrical child with his big blue eyes and expressive face along with a dramatic personae.
Josh knew he loved to sing from a young age being round a mother who also loved to sing however pursued the sports route. Until this year Josh decided to audition for drama at Pnins and was pleasantly suprised to get it. This then started his passion for something different something he found he loved and wanted more of.
Joshua auditioned for a show in Palmerston North called Seussical Junior and was picked for the main part of Jojo. Josh was extremley focused and dedicated to this part and blew alot of people away with his talent. This experience was amazing for josh and his potential talents were noticed. Josh decided that he wanted to carry on pursuing the theatre world and was nominated for a Pilot Programme by his director from Seussical.
Joshua was one of 40 picked from many other young nominee's around New Zealand to be apart of this which is very exciting. The programme comes at a cost of $450 to the child as well as all accommodation, food, transport costs for him as well as me his mum to supervise him being that he is 11 and it is for a full week. Usually we would just front up the money but being that we are a family of 3 kids 2 adults I thought why not see if our friends and family would like to help support joshuas journey to get to this amazing opportunity.
Thanks so much for your support you will never know how much we appreciate it. Details of the programme are below.
We are thrilled to announce that New Zealand's Junior Theatre Performers are to be offered the opportunity to take part in the inaugural Broadway Junior Pilot Programme as part of this year's Junior Theatre Celebration, New Zealand.
A cast of 40 young Kiwi students will take part in an exciting week-long pilot of a new Broadway Junior title. The selected group of students will participate in an intensive workshop from Monday 29th October through to Friday 3rd November, the week leading up to the second annual Junior Theatre Celebration (JTCNZ) event, which will be held in Auckland on Saturday 3rd November.
The Pilot Programme offers young people who love musicals the opportunity to be part of a process that mirrors the demands of developing a musical in the professional theatre world. Rehearsals are fast-paced and intense and will focus on dialogue, music and choreography to test and ensure the musical adaptation is suitable to be performed by student musical theatre performers. The workshop culminates in a staged presentation of the show focusing on storytelling rather than the production values.
This programme will be directed by Marty Johnson, iTheatrics Director of Education and Resident Director, New York and Timothy Allen McDonald, musical theatre author (Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach, Between the Lines) and founding chairman of iTheatrics New York.
I am Joshua's mother and will be attending the Pilot Programme with him.
