I'm really sorry to have to update this page to let everyone know that Justine was taken from us on Sunday 4 October 2020.
She had her close loved ones with her as she left, and wasn't in pain. We'll all miss her terribly.
Those close to Justine expected she'd have more time with Madeline and Dominic, and a chance to head back home down south. We now know that sadly wasn't to be, despite our hopes. Funds raised through this page will instead be used to give Justine the send-off she would have wanted. It's a shorter and sadder tour, but no less important.
I also wanted to acknowledge all the contributors to this fund. After the fundraiser opened, I know that Justine watched and noticed your contributions and comments. As more and more came in, she was genuinely surprised and overwhelmed by everyone's kindness and generosity. You should all feel proud that she was able to feel celebrated while she could appreciate it. We're so grateful for that.
I also wanted to confirm with contributors to the page that Dominic will become the beneficiary of the funds this page has raised and that I will keep the page open for a bit longer.
Apart from giving Justine the send-off she had asked for, funds will be put toward maintaining as much stability for Dominic and Madeline as possible.
With Justine's family now down to Dominic's single apprenticeship income, I know they could use the help to stay in their home for as long as possible, so Madeline can at least see out the school year where she is while they come to terms will the changes in their life.
Thanks again to everyone who has helped so far, it's heartening to know just how good our community is when something as terrible as this happens.
