Help Kaivolution reduce carbon emissions from sending food to landfill and provide access to free food for our community.

Waikato

Kaivolution Food Rescue and Redistribution is Go Eco's biggest climate action project.

In our first five years, more than 700 tonnes of food, destined for landfill yet still edible has been rescued from supermarkets, food growers and backyards across the Waikato. Food that’s good enough to eat, but not good enough to sell is picked up, sorted at the Frankton depot and redistributed to communities.

“The food we divert from landfill each month reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 32,000 kg per month – the equivalent of 126,000 km travelled by car”.

The environmental impact is significant yet it’s the social benefit most of us associate with Kaivolution. Every month Kaivolution distributes to 80 charities and community organisations to provide access to free food for over 2,500 individuals.

The service has grown over time, and in 2019 extended to have a depot in Cambridge, collection points in local community houses and opened a Free Store in Frankton. To support the expansion of our food rescue service into regional towns we invite you to support Kaivolution with as little or as much as you can.

Due to the COVID19 pandemic our fundraising dinner and auction has been cancelled. Now more than ever, we need your support. If you can help, it would be greatly appreciated as we work through continuing our service througout the lock-down in the essential role of food redistribution.
