Kākano Youth Arts Collective needs YOUR help to continue to run visual arts workshops & bring high quality street art to West Auckland!

Auckland

Since 2013, Kākano Youth Arts Collective has grown from strength to strength. As a collective we have played a key role in mural and sculpture installations in West Auckland, been commissioned by the Henderson-Massey Local Board and other West Auckland organisations to produce art for the community, featured in the Love Hendo campaign amongst many other arts events, partnered with Unitec for the Henderson Youth Arts Project, and the list goes on!

In our weekly art workshops at Corbans Estate Arts Centre (Studio 6), we get to try out different art mediums and processes, and discover which of these we want to pursue. Through Kākano we are able to build up a body of artworks and the confidence, focus and skills we develop better prepare us to be ready for other opportunities, whether in training, paid work or further education. Each year we also bring all of our work together into one show, where we get to invite our friends and whānau to see what we’ve created.

We love our place in the community and the fact that we can bring art, colour and culture to the beautiful people of West Auckland. This Give a Little page is our way of reaching out for support, so that we can continue to do what we do best: CREATE!

If you are able to financially support our collective, regardless of the amount (every little bit counts!), we’d really appreciate it! :)

About us

Corban Estate Arts Centre is an arts precinct in the heart of West Auckland, based on the historic grounds of the late Corban Estate Winery.

Established in 2002, Corban Estate Arts Centre is recognised as one of Aotearoa’s largest thriving Arts Centres, nurturing and supporting the local community through art and creativity, while being the custodians of one of Tāmaki Makaurau’s important historical legacies.

Corban Estate Arts Centre is governed by the Waitakere Arts And Cultural Development Trust, a registered charity established with the purpose of providing an arts and cultural hub to initiate, develop, support & implement projects for the advancement of arts.

The Corban Estate property is owned by Auckland Council. Corban Estate Arts Centre is the main leaseholder responsible for achieving key local board and community objectives under this lease agreement. To sustain our operational needs in order meet these objectives, Corban Estate Arts Centre is perpetually in need of funding to support our infrastructure so that we can continue to provide our services to the community.

Use of funds

Funds raised will be used to buy materials (e.g paint, rollers, brushes, paper, art equipment) for our mural projects and weekly art workshops.
