Taking Youth lead Kapahaka to Europe!
Auckland
Youth lead Kapahaka is a proven local cultural activity in Aotearoa New Zealand evidenced by the bi-annual National School Competitions. Waiorea, the Maori education and aspiration unit at Western Springs College endeavour to take their performing group on a tour of Poland and Europe in August 2017. This ambitious tour is an ambitious timeline and each student is required to fund their own travel.
As a budding leader in the world of Kapahaka, Te Waiora sees this trip as an opportunity to increase the global awareness and interest in the Maori Culture and the value of the Mana Economy. She has an intent to leverage this experience to launch her new organisation in this industry. She believes that all Maori children who love Kapahaka should be able to make a living from it and seeks to unlock the digital and global worlds in a deliberate and futuristic way. She thinks Maori kids prefer creativity over literacy and thinks the world is trending back to this realisation. As a passionate edu-tainer, Te Waiora feels the story of Maori is ready to be unlocked by a generation hungry to tell it.
I am Te Waiora's father and will be assisting her in establishing and developing her digital identity and efficacy online.
