Our cat Kevin has developed a cancer in her back foot, resulting in her entire leg needing to be amputated.
Northland
I adopted Kevin from the SPCA 4 years ago at just 12 months old. She has always been in perfect health, up until a couple of weeks ago when she developed a lump on her right back leg. It went from the size of a small grape to the size of a large cherry tomato in just 2 weeks. The vet has come to the conclusion of sarcoma, a kind of cancer. Unfortunately it has wrapped itself very intimately in and around the top of her foot, so any attempts to remove the whole tumour would not leave much of her foot left. The final decision made by me and the vet is that amputation of her entire limb is the best way to go. The surgery itself will cost up to $950, and a further $230 to send the results off to a lab to see what it is, however I’m not too concerned about seeing what it is, as long as it’s all gone. The reason I am asking for donations (however big or small, I would be unbelievably grateful) is because we have just had our first child and I am currently on maternity leave until July 2020, so we will be on only 1 income in just 2 weeks time until I return back to full time work. Sadly our Kev can’t wait that long.
All donations will go directly to pay for the surgery itself, any left over will go to Kevin’s aftercare, and then any extra will be donated ahead to another family pet.
