Helping to change one family's life, and give them some hope when there is no hope for them, and no way for them to break the cycle
International
I had the pleasure on a recent trip to Cambodia to meet this family. He is a rice farmer that earns on average $1 per day to look after himself,Wife 3 year old daughter and extended family.
My aim is to raise money for this family so that there daughter can go to school, which without help they will never be able to afford it at around $4500 for school. Also for Lan to learn a trade of his own. As a rice farmer they get 80 cents per kg for there rice when harvested. When they plant the new crop they wait 3 years for it to be ready to harvest again, so any money they make from the previous harvest has to last that long . When you see and here how they live it is really sad.
One of there dreams is to go to Bangkok, I am currently helping them to get passports, and next year when i return to Siem Reap i will be taking them all to Bangkok, I am also as a surprise taking them to a beach resort, as they have never seen the sea or sand.My goal is to try and help one family per year, and try make a better life for them, Let them enjoy most of the things that we take for granted, Clean water, Food, and just knowing its all going to be ok.
I am involved because i want to help these people, and show them there is a way out, they dont have free health care, or any government help. They are on there own, I know there are millions of family's that need help, and i just want to try help one each year. I want to give back to those that dont know how to do it themselves.
The funds will be used for his daughters education, Also for any medical events that may happen. Also to buy an oxen to help in the fields ( as he has to pay to borrow one) cause they cant afford there own. An oxen will be used for work, but if things get harder for them they can trade, sell or use it for food. All funds raised will be sent to Lan via Western union Transfer to Cambodia.
