Kath's Kilimanjaro Challenge - Travel Costs

I am participating in the Kilimanjaro Challenge 2017.

Canterbury

Wellbeing is at the heart of everything I am passionate about, as a mother, a partner, a social worker, a woman. I have worked hard to achieve a level of wellbeing that allows me to live a healthy and happy life, something which I believe all people should have the right to enjoy.

Like all my fellow Cantabrians who have lived through the turbulence and aftermath of major earthquakes, the stark reality of how fragile we humans are has really hit home. I have experienced first hand how quickly and easily mental illness can change everything, for myself, my loved ones, and those we have lost.

Maintaining my physical and mental health has never been more of a priority since becoming a mother. Despite experiencing more stress than ever before, I have come to appreciate and prioritise the need to move my body, still my mind, and breathe in the beauty of our natural environment.

The Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand is the driving force behind so many great projects and campaigns enhancing wellbeing across the country. The All Right? Campaign is one example which has certainly stood out for us Cantabrians, like a dear friend, checking in and gently reminding us to take care of each other.

The Wellbeing Game, Pink Shirt Day, Mental Health Awareness Week, Like Minds Like Mine, Pause Breath Smile (mindfulness in schools programme), to name a few of the Mental Health Foundation’s initiatives that have touched my life in some way.

So I will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in September 2017 with a team of fellow kiwis to raise money to support the Mental Health Foundation in continuing to help kiwis thrive. I will be asking friends, families, colleagues, community and local businesses to chip in and participate in raffles, fun-runs, water fights, bake sales, quiz nights and much more!

The opportunity to take on such a huge physical challenge, in such a majestic location, for an organisation who lives and breathes wellbeing, is truly once in a lifetime. I am not an athlete, or a mountaineer, and I’ve never fundraised before in my life!

I’m just an average working mum, who cares and wants to do her bit to make the world a better place. Your help and support would mean the world to me and could make the world of difference to someone who really needs a hand.

Here is my other page that is fundraising for the Mental Health Foundation: https://kilimanjaro-for-mental-health.everydayhero.com/nz/kath

All funds raised on this page will be used for my travel costs.
