The earthquake in Nepal on 25 April 2015 has caused unprecedented damage across the entire country. Can you help?

Canterbury

Widespread damage has occurred across the entire country of Nepal due to the recent series of earthquakes since 25 April 2015. Please give generously by donating to the cause. The funds we collect will go directly to the Sherpa community within the Solu-Khumbu valley of Nepal. This is the valley that leads to Mt Everest, which Sir Edmund Hillary was synonymous with.

Initial funds will be used to provide immediate aid for temporary shelter leading up to and during the monsoon season. We are going to start by helping the village of Khari-Khola and subject to available funds help the surrounding villages.

Later rebuilding aid will be provided to community projects like hospitals and schools where they are needed most.

Kiwi Friends of the Solu-Khumbu, Rebuild Appeal (administered by Deloitte Trust Account)'s involvement (page creator)

We are a group of twelve Cantabrian’s, along with our NZ guide Phurenje Sherpa from Mount Cook, who have recently returned from a trip to Nepal, in particular the Solu-Khumbu valley where we visited Everest Base Camp. Our team experienced the great hospitality of the local people and want to re-pay them for their kindness and generosity while we were there.

Almost There  5 February 2018

Well we managed to get most of the way there before leaving Nepal last year. It was an intensive three weeks work, where we achieved a lot, however with some serious logistical and supply issues we didn't quite make it.

The roof is on, but the kitchen, wiring, lighing, plumbing, exterior plastering and windows still need to be done. Although we have let most of the materials on site for the interior works, installation work still needs to be funded along with the work to the exterior to make the building weather tight.

Your generous donations have got us this far however we are now on the final push for funds so that we can get this exciting project 100% complete.
